Big boy

Breck just recently showed us that he was capable of crawling in and out of his crib....
So until now, we didn't feel the need to put him a big bed!
(plus that would mean i would have to really believe that he is growing up and not my little baby anymore)

So off to the store to shop for a new bed.
Little did I know how spends those twin frames were... Soooo
Pintrest came to my rescue, yet again!
I found a 4 by 12 pallet
Jerod cut it down to the mattress size
I sanded the heck out of it
Primes it
Painted it
Six hours later in the dreadful heat....
Viola!
Took a nap on it the first day and
SLEPT ALL night on the very first night!
He even laid down
On his own
And fell
Fast asleep!

He is so excited about his new bed that he spends a lot of time playing in his room, door shut, "no mama, you go bye bye"!

Where does time go?!?
Sweet dreams little love.

Fun with paint!

This week we had fun with paints! They helped cook it, mix the colors, then got creative on paper, and then themselves!!!

Homemade finger paints
Ingredients:
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 cups water
liquid food coloring

Directions: Mix cornstarch and water in a saucepan and boil until the mixture thickens. Allow to cool and then add food coloring.

Then you can separate into different bowls and dye each a different color. We like this recipe because it has a similar consistency to store-bought finger paint. It dries without being sticky and is just fun to play with, though it can be a little gloppy (for lack of a better adjective). The colors are vibrant too.

One of four places

Summer has been so fun but going so fast!
With this heat you'll find us one of these four places staying cool....

Lake Ripley beach:
Sand castle building and swimming with the fishes

Our sandbox (make shift) small pool:
Perfect pool for one

Friends pool:
We are lucky to have some friends that let us use their awesome backyard pool anytime we want...score!

Breck's"big" pool:
Where he can "swim" and splash!

Breck+water=LOVE

Howdy howdy howdy!!!

Watercade weekend was blast!!

Thursday we enjoyed the Center bank annual brat feed and polka. Since my dad had to work it Breck had ti "help him". Ever since my parents got home from their trip to Europe they have been buddies. Breck is always by his side or holding his hand...so cute! then we headed over to the park for free ice cream and more polka! Breck loves to get out there and shake his tooshy!

Friday we enjoyed boating, eating greasy food at the park and the beach party, and hanging out with friends and family waiting for fireworks to start! (even if it means crammed in a hot hot garage with lots of crazy kids to avoid the storm that ended up canceling the fireworks)!
After everyone was bummed and left we got one of the scariest phone calls of my life. My dad had fallen and was in his way to the ER. All in all he was fine and it could have been worse. He had slipped and fallen, cut his ear, got a concussion, and some minor bumps and bruises. THANK GOD! (don't ever do that again)

Saturday I participated in the un-watercade lake Ripley along with a dozen others. (we planned this bc watercade cancelled this fun event after many years of participating) BUT was told that I need to tell to a certain board member and it may be back next year!!!yeah!!!!

Then Breck and his bud Arlo partook in the kiddie parade! Here is "Buzz" and "woody" and "princess" Lilly! we had many fans as the grandmas grandpas and friends came out to cheer them on!

My little cowboy hit the hay as soon as we got home! Must have been a pretty good start to a fun weekend :)

Stay tuned for part 2

4th of July crafts

Since the weather was so steamy we stayed inside crafting.

We (Ellery and I) made these cute festive banners to hang in the house to pep up the 4th of July holidays!

The tin can idea I still need/want to do!!! We just need to eat more veggies so the kids and i can hammer holes, paint, add a candle and place on my front step for the remaining summer months!

Happy crafting ;)

4th FuN

The first picture is my little man two years ago celebrating the fourth (a little over two months old)

This year the fourth fell on a Wednesday and was a raging 99+ degrees! We were planning on camping but cut that idea since we were using a pop up. We are rescheduling that for a cooler weekend so we can enjoy it!

So instead we hung out indoors staying nice and cool.... Perfect!!!

We also got into the 4th of July spirit by painting nails! Since I did mine....Breck insisted I painted his too. So we compromised with his toes!
My favorite thing is when people can't believe I did this to my "son" and "what did Jerod say" honestly....not a big deal, it's all for fun, right :)

HAPPY 4TH TO ALL...hope you stayed cool!!
