Spooktacular days...

are in full swing around the Barrick household...
as we count down the days till
HaLlOwEeN.
This is the banner I made to help celebrate!
It was SO easy...
and SO fun!
It will be perfect for our little
Halloween Bash we are hosting Thurday afternoon
.................................................
After school I have had great helpers
to make a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies!
Even though they ended up looking like pancakes,
they tasted delicious!
The beautiful fall weather is still letting us enjoy playing outside!
Breck has been wearing his Halloween costume the whole week
half his idea/half mine!
He wants to put it on then walks around growling at us.I want to get more use out of it since he won't be able to wear it to daycare or music class!
..........................................
Today we wore it to Walmart to pick up milk, get out of the house, and take a break from football...
Everyone who walked past us pointed, laughed, and commented on my little dragon as Breck batted his eyes at them and flashed them his dimples!
LOVES attention...just like  his dad {wink, wink}
This morning
AFTER
breakfast....
we had Halloween cupcakes!
Jerod walked in on us licking orange frosting!
I think even Breck was confused with eating cupcakes at 9:30 a.m!
but, got over that quick!
I thought it would be something fun to do,
since Breck was under the weather {high temps, cough, not eating much}
for most of Friday & Saturday
but, woke up this morning in a much brighter mood!
And we ate every last crumb!

Tonight we FINALLY carved our pumpkins!
Last year Breck was six months old...so this was "really" his first time helping carve pumpkins!
He wasn't quite sure at first.
But then he watched his idol dad,

and became a natural!

We gave him a plastic play knife,
and he pretended to cut pumpkins just like we did!

He was so funny.
{here he jabbed it in and left it in the eye hole}

He was so proud of himself.

Then he took a quick taste of the pumpkin guts...
and decide
pumpkin carving wasn't for him.
He left the table to sit his rocking horse and sing "heeehaw" as we finished carving!
Mine {plain old jack-o-lantern} Brecks {Spooky potato head pumpkin} Jerods {just plain weird}

We tried to get pictures of him with the pumpkins,
but he was busy pulling out the arms, nose & eyes!
*Above: Jerod said "Breck, look, a bird" and he looked up, but way to high for a good shot!
.....................................

Tomorrow night is the BIG
trick-or-treat night!
And hopefully we will get some good family pictures
and
more of my cute little spooky dragon!

This little ham...

is EiGhTeEn months old
and a cute little
spitfire
boy
He would rather sit on the stool to eat
then his high chair.

and when a camera comes out
he poses
and says cheeeeeeeeeeeeese

what a ham!
At his appointment he was:
height 32.5 inches 50% for his age
weight 24.5 lbs 25% for his age
healthy. happy.

Breck 1.5

What has this little boy been up to for the last year n' a half?
Keeping his mom & dad on their toes by.....
looking so cute in his bones  & tie p.j's!
He loves to snuggle up at bedtime with his dad. Mom is old news these days
even if I'm the one:
waking him in the morning, dressing, feeding, bringing to and from daycare, playing with, walks outside, hmmm just about EVERYTHING!
Dad comes home fro work and has "fun time"and becomes "dad of the year"!
*For instance, he wouldnt' go to sleep tonight {been having ear issues AGAIN} so I laid with him...he "fell" asleep so I put him in his crib and he woke up! Jerod took him and BOOM, sleeping...not fair!
Oh well, so nice to see that father son bond.
He tells us when he is tired by saying "nigh nigh"
grabbing his blanket and running to his crib!
He tries to climb in it,
LUCKILY he hasn't learned how to climb out...yet.
He has LOTS of energy...so he runs around the {wall} from kitchen to living room about a million times!

and around...

and around! With his cow lawn mower! He loves lawn mowers and owns two!
Story here:
He got a cute John Deere mower for his first birthday and just loves it..
so we go to a garage sale where I find some cute Fisher Price toys for cheap cheap cheap
{just what I'm looking for}
Breck sees a cow lawn mower and is hooked.
I go to pay and I can't pry his chubby fingers off the mower....
SOME random lady at the sale says
"oh mom, don't be cheap, just buy him the mower"
So now I feel stupid bc it's only one dollar {not the point/he has one already}
BUT
I buy it! ha ha sucker!

Now we tell him to run run run at night...
to make bed time a bit easier!
I love this age!
He understands what we say to him,
and a lot of time we understand what he is telling us.

He is {pretty} good with other kids.
No he is not hitting her....Liana came to visit and we told him to be gentle
so then he rubs their heads and says "niceeee"
But sometime,
he pretends to be nice,
then
WACK
game over.
He's learning, still not okay, but learning.

Future
Mr. & Mrs. Barrick :)

Tonight we tried on our dragon costume {thanks Jackson}
to make sure it fit.
He's growing like a weed
last week was in12-18 & this week 18-24
He loves looking at himself in the mirror and grawwwwling!

He definitely has a mind of his own,
a good thing,
most of the time!
He wanted his dragon pants off...so off they came!

\
Then he sat on our bed,
screaming at the vacuum!
I swear I vacuum a lot,
he shouldn't be so afraid like he has never seen it before!

By bedtime,
he is ready to crash.
and so are
his mom and dad.

Life of a busy 1.5 year old :)
{stats to come. Appointment Friday + shots..boo}

fall days.

The fall leaves are so pretty!
I love looking out the window and seeing this sight...
but unfortunately along with cooler weather
brings...
little boys that are under the weather.
He has been battling a runny nose for weeks!
And now along with that is draining ears AGAIN,
and a cough.
NO FUN.
The only good to come of this is...
my little man who wants to snuggle in my arms
and
read books on my lap!
{a new favorite book The Hungry Little Caterpillar}

When Ellery came home from school Breck had just woke up from a {short} nap.
He was ready to snuggle anyone who would give him a squeeze....
and she was loving the {usually wild} peacefully calm little boy who gave her a squeeze back!
This lasted a whole two minutes...
then he was ready to play!
The nap definitely help him feel better, even if {I FEEL} it wasn't long enough :)

And although I love the fall and leaves...
I forget how many tree's we have in our yard
that leave us with hours of raking!
The kids always enjoy raking, jumping, throwing the leaves around!
And Breck did too this year!
We also went out to enjoy Harvest Madness, a Litchfield fall event where you shop
at the downtown {3} shops and see practically everyone you know in town!
Then dinner was McD's Harvest Madness special $.69 burgers...can't beat that.
It was early to bed for us, since the night before Breck had us up early with ear pain and we thought it would be another night of just that...
but NO,
he slept all night long
and woke up
HAPPY!

This morning he woke up and he was definitely feeling back to his normal self...
besides the leaking faucet of a nose!
He grabbed his hockey stick and starting hitting blocks around saying "hoaw keeey"
FYI
His dad loves that he says and does this..makes him proud :)
Happy Friday all!

10.13.2011

This little boy is SPOILED rotten by the Selly clan!
He got a package in the mail yesterday full of Halloween goodies....
they are TOOO MUCH
and
that is why we love them.

Included in the "little package that made my day & Breck's too"
was this cute little pumpkin decorative box
with yummy treats inside
including...

Pirates Booty!!
I follow CJane and I have heard her talk about how they eat Pirates Booty,
but didn't really know what it was until NOW
and NOW it has become a family favorite!
I haven't seen it really anywhere {Walmart or Econo}
but I do remember seeing it at the food co-op.
So today we are going to pick up a bag and eating the whole dang thing
and not going to feel guilty, because I read the back & its made with rice and corn
and isn't SO unhealthy...perfect snack!
must try!

I asked this little ham to say cheeseburger
and he gave me this look!
I think this is his way of saying
THANK YOU SELLY FAMILY
and hope to see you all soon :)

toooo funny.

This boy.
Is so funny.
If he had a choice he would always wear his shoes around the house...
always ready to go outside!
He loves being outside.

Saturday, as soon as he woke up he insisted on putting on his shoes.
Then he marched around the house.
We laughed, which made him do it more!

Another favorite lately are these:
The Hannah Montana purple purse that he wears around his neck,
and the purple leopard shoes!
He puts the purse on then says "bub-bye dadda"
I. LOVE. THIS. KID.

practice makes perfect...

Today we decided to try out our potty chair!
Because
for the last month or so Breck has been telling us when he poops in his diaper.
He hits himself in the front {yes, weird and funny I know}
then says Mama poooot!
So I have slowly been trying to get him to sit on the potty.
And usually he is excited until I set him on it,
then he screams and cries.
I kind of gave up.
So Saturday morning we are all hanging out playing,
and he says "dadda poot"
and since he hadn't done it yet, Jerod decided to put him on the seat as I said good luck!
What do ya know' he sat on his potty for ten minutes
all excited and loving it!
He didn't actually go...but it's a start!
