13 month dare devil

This weekend we celebrated yet another month older
{and I STILL haven't had his one year photos taken...slacker...must dothis week or before he's two!}
Some of the things we like to do at 13 months:
Climb
EVERYTHING
no matter how dangeous it may be
{might give aunt Stac a nervous breakdown}
Loves being naked {or in diaper due to frequent urnination}
watching shows/listening to music so he can dance!
Quite  the entertainer...get's his moves from someone other then his mom and dad

Everyone says he looks like a "Smith"
especially his uncle Ty at this age
although people also think he loose like a "white" {pasty white like his mom} Jerod

He is always making a mess and destroying the place
and always having a good time doing it!
With a BIG grin his face.

He talks talks talks.
Repeats everything you say:
duck..."ducK" then quacks "wack wack wack"
baseball..."baball"
grandpa... "bompa"
mom..."moMmm"
dad...."dada"
bye.."bahbye"
"hi"
thank you..."tank ew"
lake..."duah" {must be a hard one :)}
all done {shakes his hands back and forth}
if you as if he has an ouchie {he pats his head}
blows kisses
shakes head yes and no {mostly no :)}

This age is SO much fun!

Memorial Day weekend

We TRULY enjoyed our Memorial Day weekend
and the time we spend with family and friends!

Friday night we had a weekend kickoff bonfire
but due to rain {like every weekend has had}
we had a garage party..
what fun was had! Fun with friends...always a good time!
On Saturday we packed up our bags and headed to the lake for some camping!
Our first overnight camping trip...
luckily we had amazing family that let us use the camper so we didn't have to rough it in a tent
and said we can use it anytime {which we may take them up on it, every weekend :)}

After playing with cousins, checking out the lake, swinging, and  a bonfire
it was time for dad to read books
then snuggle before bed!
Breck was such a trooper....loved sleeping in the camper
and even let us sleep in till 9:45 a.m
And the weather was AWESOME! Can't wait to do it again soon!

Sunday, was a pretty low key day & night!
We had dinner at the lake
then home to relax!

Memorial Day was a perfect day!
Breck & I met my mom and dad who was in the VFW Honor Guard out at the Lake Ripley Cemetery for the annual memorial service.
It was beautiful.
The people,
the flags flying as they lined the cemetery,
the sounds of the guns and the taps.
A day to remember all of our service men and women
then and now.
It was also a hot and muggy day
so my sis and I set up the pool we bought for the summer..perfect day or that and should be ready {filled and warmed up} by the end of the week.

We then invited my family over for a barbecue to end the weekend!
We enjoyed delicious food,
then took a walk to the cemetery to honor our loved ones.
May have been the best
most memorable
Memorial Day weekend.

Small town..

if you live in small town such as I do...
you know your limited on places to shop unless you get the chance to shop out of town:
but that means,
dragging your little ones along making you feel bad they have to suffer through the shopping in which I myself dread these days {not as fun as it used to be, not sure if it's not finding what I want, not finding something that will fit, or not wanting to spend my whole pay check...I guess I would rather pay the mortgage!},
or leaving them home with your hubby or a sitter which also makes me feel bad...sometimes!
So...
I just want to let my fellow small townies where I have found some bargain
because I know I like to be tipped off of hot shopping spots, good deals, or good products!

Green Hill
Yes, it's kind of hit or miss
but if you check weekly your bound to find one thing to jump up in down for!
I also was looking for sandals for Breck for the summer and my sister swears by Keens {in which she has found a couple pairs at GH for the kids...and I saw a pair there last week: Youth Girls pink size 3-4?}
Well since I wasn't willing to pay 40.00 for a pair that he will grow out of to quick I went looking for some.
All the way to Hutchinson ...really it's not that far, but I had to bring Breck and took up my whole morning to find NOTHING :( or nothing I was willing to pay 25.00 for.
So I stopped at the grocery store when we got back to town to get milk and thought I would swing by GH to peek....
I found three pairs of leather sandals for Breck
all his size
all in great condition
all for 3.89 a piece.
So I bought these:
Stride rites {online they are 39.00 shoes}
Yah me.

Then, within a week
we lost one! I thought he kicked it off on one of our walks like he had done with his army sneaker on our walk around the lake {Ellery and my mom found it the next day while cruising around in the convertible}
I was so bummed.
I told Ellery and Calvin if they searched the house and found it, I would give them a dollar!
They searched high and low...it was gone! BUMMER!

So back to GH to get our second pair of sandals of the summer within' the same week!
Elefanten {online 49.00 shoes}
leather...lucky me!

Then, Calvin comes running in the house three days later with
THE LOST SHOE!
and his first comment "where's my dollar"
he had earned it, well kind of,
he found it in his backpack!!!
They hang up their backpacks by the shoe basket and I'm pretty sure I threw Breck's sandals down there one day and one landed in the basket while the other in his backpack!

Oh well, now we have two pairs of sandals for the summer
all for under 10.00
and super cute if I don't say so myself!

Another must have,
and I'm only saying this because most of the time you have to have a Yankee Candle to get the wonderful smell to fill your house but,
I found this candle at Walmart
for 4.98
mine is watermelon and my house smells delicious!
it also comes in lime,pina coloda and lavender

YOUR WELCOME ;)
xoxo Small Town Shopper: keeping it local :)

the begining of splendid summer off..

today was the first day of my summer vaca from work till August 29th
and if everyday is this wonderful
it's going to be a good summer!

Breck & I slept in till 9:15 a.m {shhh don't tell dad..he gets jealous}
then we slowly got ready for the day
enjoyed breakfast together without the rush, then some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & Ellen

The sun was shining so we walked around town to run errands...
being able to do this reminds me why I love being back in my hometown, small town atmosphere
and I wouldn't change it for the world!

We walked up to my office, which is also my mom's office building
yup, we work in the same building, same floor, and guess what...I love it!
I'm going to miss lunch dates at her house at noon for the summer, but I bet she'll miss it more!

Breck rode the elevator for the first time without being in his stroller
you should have seen his face when we started moving!

Then we walked up to the bank to deposit some cha-ching
G'pa Tom immediately takes "Brecker" and shows him off
and Breck immediately starts flirting: flashing dimples and big smile!

Then we visited our friends on the way home for our much needed nap!
I sat outside on our new patio furniture and read in the sun: current book
Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin
author of Something Borrowed {currently made into a movie I must see} Something Blue, Baby Proof, and Love the One Your With
All wonderful books I recommend reading!

If everyday was like this day...I'm in heaven!

Lately Breck has been sooooo funny {I need to find my camera to tape him to show you all}
He smells flowers {with a big sniff} then opens his mouth and says {ahhhhhhh}

I've also back to baking & cooking in which LOVE to do
here is my latest YUM.
Rhubarb dessert: given to me by a co-worker/friend Tracey
Absolutely to die for!
1 package of yellow cake mix {make as directed on box}
pour into greased baking pan
add
4 Cups rhubarb
1 Cup sugar
1 pint of half/half
Bake on 350 for 1 hour
Cool. Cover. Place in Fridge.
Add Cool Whip and eat!

Weekend of SUNSHINE!

We have been busy...
as in chasing this little boy around,
keeping dirt and rocks out of his mouth,
laughing and playing!

Although this SPRING has not been cooperating very well {sunshine during the week & rainy weekends}
we have been trying to get out side every opportunity we get!
Jerod & I {okay I should probably be giving my mom ALL the credit...but we are learning} have been planting flowers and trying to clean up the outside.
It's slowly starting to look MUCH better!
Breck loves playing outside in the dirt digging beside us,
helping dad water flower,
and push his little mower around!

We have spent sunny days at the park with our cousins! Looks like aunt Stacie had more fun then the kids!
Breck has gotten so much better with more playing and less eating rocks.

Just hanging around!

I had an Operation: Military Kids event at the Armory on Saturday,
then off to a friends 40th birthday bash
{Thanks g'ma Shirley for watching the kids..they wore her out!}
Sunday was our lazy day after a busy weekend!
But a day of WONDERFUL company:
Uncle Goofy and Kelsey stopped by for a visit.
Breck just loved Jon and sat down right in his lap...so cute!

Then the Selly family stopped by for a visit!!!
I got to chit chat with good friends,
eat dinner,
play,
and kiss chubby cheeks!
Future Mrs. Barrick!!
Ohhh how I love babies :)

It was one of the best weekends!  Even with the rain pouring down!

5.17.2011

oh, this boy...

is the LOVE of my life.

5.16.2011

What have we been up too...

A lot
of fun!
I'm so enjoying my one year old....
he has such a personality
and i LOVE it.

We play peek-a-boo in the curtains!
My favorite picture!
Little chubby fingers

We still love our baseball bat
and use it as a hockey stick!
pro-player in the making :)

Our Red Rider Rocket ship we got for our birthday!
One of our favorite toys!

But instead of using to ride one
we stand on it!
"evil kenevil"

Then we get out the instruments
and make our own band

maracas & drum!
I even get one to play...oh the fun!

Sometimes we play it like this! ha!

Then g'ma & g'pa come over and give us Oreo cookies!
What a FUN mess....
they leave
just when it's time to clean up!

Thanks! So much!

All fun...in one day!
