Freeeezing fun.

Today, Monday, is Presidents Day.
So I had the day off and added a few extra to my clan as well.

We decided that we would do something outdoors to wear off the energy of two rambunctious boys that have a love, love, hate relationship like cousin "brothers" do!

We made our way out to Darwin Hill for some sledding,
something my dad used to do with all winter long as kids!

It was fun'ish..minus
a). it was windy as heck and the higher we trotted up the hill the worst it felt.
b). I do NOT remember the hill being so big and getting so winded walking up it
(or the reality of..I'm getting old and have way less energy. No wonder my dad took us there every Saturday afternoon?!
c). who in their right mind brings a two year old to Darwin hill?  "Carry me mom!" Um, sorry honey, but I can't carry myself so there is no way I can carry an extra 25 pounds!
Mom and her Eskimo boy.

Eskimo "brothers"

We also met my dad and Ellery out there so Miss E could have her first cross country skiing experience!  She was a pro and off they went.

And the whole troop!
Fun day with Grandpa Tom.
Lucky us

By the end Breck made his way to the car.
He enjoyed the warmth and his sucker!
He sat in there giggling at us as though he was saying
"you Dumbo's out in the cold"

Be Mine.

Days after Valentines Day we are still enjoy MANY of our favorite treats and sweets!

I had to share our Valentine's treats that Breck and I made for all his friends.
SUPER DUPER cute.
Super duperly not durable.
(by the time they made it to daycare they were in ten pieces)
Oh well. It's the thought that counts and the help of my special man making them.
Breck is also enjoyed his pink frosted chocolate sugar cookie.
What you don't realize...
is that this was for breakfast :)
(mom of the year)
I love having a bowl full of sweets.

And that my friends, is why I can't seem to lose the pounds!

My little hunk!

Here's my little Valentine!
The one who makes my day everyday not only Valentines Day!
I love his smile
dimples
hugs
and
kisses!

I am the luckiest mom in the world.
He's the luckiest boy in the world.
THAT is the importance of Valentines Day!

Although he may find it differently...
Sweets and treats are #1

but that's okay.
I know deep down
it's ME!

Fishing rocks...

On a lovely Saturday afternoon Jerod announced he was going fishing...
and going to bring Breck with!
I was so excited to lounge on the couch while they enjoyed boy bonding time.
Until Jerod says "well I thought you would want to come since it's his first time and take pictures".
How do you say no to that right?!?!?!
So we bundled up and headed out.

Breck and I stayed in the car while Jerod drilled holes and warmed up the house...
we enjoyed our dance party!

When it was all ready (and warm) we joined Jerod in the house.
But not before a quick picture of Breck and his dad on his very first fishing outing!

Breck learned the ropes of ice fishing pretty quick
and was an excellent helper!

Then Jerod put minnows on our "fishing rocks" and we were ready to catch dinner!
(p.s I don't clean fish or eat fish)

He was excited to hold his "fishing rock" for about five minutes...
and then the excitement was over and on to the next thing....

MINNOWS!
yuck.
He played with them, while every once in awhile checking on his "fishing rock"
and announced to us that his "bobbers were dancing"!
Yup, he was the only one who had a nibble (about three or four times he lost his bate)!

He finally got brave enough to touch the minnow..again..yuck!
Then he would put them in my face and say "look mom, this one likes me"
as held a dead minnow (possibly from his little fingers squeezing the heck out of it)

After an hour we were ready to pack up and head home!
No fish.
But fun picture memories!

Not sure Jerod will be taking either of us out again soon :)

Snow forts

A "big" winter storm was suppose to hit our area this weekend and I was very much looking forward to it.
Snuggling inside all day...awww perfect.
But we didn't quite get as much as we expected,
although a nice new fresh coat of sticky snow was nice.

After our naps we all went outside to clean up the mess play!
Jerod and I had more fun the Breck building him a fort.
(I think the neighbors thought we were dorks...but we didn't care)
I highly recommend the snow block builders $2.00 at Menards
Then Breck "helped" dad snowblow!
As I sat back and enjoyed this cute little face!
And this one too!
Happy snow fall all!

Me and my boy weekend...

Last weekend Jerod left for for days for a fishing trip with his buddies.  I though "yeah, it will be fun. I'll hang with my boy, then hang with my gf's in the evening with a glass of wine"!
Until I realized,
everyone was busy, gone, or sick. booo.
So it was a Breck and mom weekend...which was PERFECT!

We baked.
Giant monster cookies with Valentines M&M's to donate for a bake sale
and a couple extra to eat :)

We made our favorite suppers including vegetable pizza, one of mine and Breck's favorites (Jerod, not so much).
We took a trip to Jo Ann Fabric for some "pinterest supplies"
and a quick dinner date with Mr. B.
We played all weekend,
and when he napped or went to bed I crafted!
I finished putting making/putting up my Valentines banner.
Made another apothecary jar for sweet treats!
(I only had dull black paint unlike the shiny one I made previously...prefer the shiny, but oh well)
Made  a large apothecary jar as cookie jar out of a pickle jar...
but haven't been able to use it yet as it stinks to bad of pickles.
(any suggestions to get the smell out?)
And finally bagged up my cookies in cute Valentines packs for the bake sale for the Community Built Playground: Play for the Park event.  Kids came and jumped on inflatables houses!
It. Was. Fabulous.
Including the great nap after :)

After the long weekend without Jerod,
we were very happy to have him home and
realized how much work it is not having him here to hang out with us!
Although, it was nice just having some me and my boy time too.
I got all the snuggles, kisses, and attention.

Now were back to dad this, dad that. He's a super hero you know;)

Oh, the joys of potty training...

Breck will be three in April,
and I was hoping to add a check off potty trained by that time!
But I think he has other ideas...one being to try his mothers patients.

He has been so off and on about potty training for over a year..
at one point I though uh ha, we got it! Then the next day...a no go.
I feel like I have tried everything (but willing for more suggestions), as charts,
working up to a big prize, small treats, pretending to not care, giving it time, buying new Cars underpants, watching others go potty....
and the list goes on...
HAS NOT WORKED.

I am truly not "worried" about it,
but just feel like if he can
a). dress himself
b). take off his diaper to bring me a new one when it's wet
c). hides when he goes potty
Its time.

Here is a picture of Breck in his undies.
As you can tell, he dressed himself.
Inside out. Backwards. And to small.

Since he prefers to take off all his clothes the moment he gets home from daycare or anywhere...
I decided I better get him some unders that fit.
So there we go to the store to pick some up and of course I go up a size since his size (pic above) are apparently to small :)

As soon as we get home we put them on (over a diaper for nap time)
and find they are a tad to big :)
So now he just looks like a big goof.
BUT
he has used the potty more then usual,
so we'll take that.
AND just as I say that...
we have wet through our unders and pants!

Sincerely,
Patient mother of a potty training toddler
